Katy Nicholls

Vinyasa, Hatha

Katy began practicing yoga in 2006 as a physical practice to complement other athletic pursuits. She enjoyed asana practice for many years, but didn’t have much of a spiritual practice behind it. In 2015, after a “dark night of the soul” period, she experienced a moment of self-forgiveness, and a blossoming open of the heart that can only be referred to as a spiritual awakening. This experience was the catalyst of changes in every area of life.

She completed a 200 hour teacher training program in 2016 under her teacher Heather Roussos in Sacramento, CA, quit her full time job, got divorced, and moved back to Oregon. She has been avidly studying spiritual growth, yoga philosophy, and meditation ever since, along with teaching yoga asana classes.

Katy LOVES connecting with her students!! Her passion for healing, growth, and transformation is shared during inspirational messages in class. Classes will focus on building up to a “peak” posture, with modifications for all levels, alignment, breath, meditation, and softening self-judgement.

She feels that her calling is as a spiritual teacher and mentor, helping others see the beauty within, and shining the heart’s compassion on the dark, stuck places. She leads workshops and offers one-on-one sessions, focusing on yoga, spiritual guidance, or both.

Off the mat, you can catch Katy hiking in Forest Park with her 4 legged best friend Bagheera, sneaking away to the coast, drinking hemp milk lattes, and playing ukulele.

"Being a friend to yourself is no mere metaphor or purely sentimental idea. It is the basis of all relationship, because it is a fundamental recognition of soul."
